Attorney Bio
Floyd Oliver, Esq. is a litigation attorney in the Virginia Beach, VA office of Melone Hatley, P.C., where he focuses his practice on family law. With extensive courtroom experience and a strong background in trial advocacy, Floyd brings a steady, thoughtful approach to representing individuals navigating separation, divorce, custody disputes, and other complex family law matters.
Floyd has significant experience appearing before Virginia’s Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts and Circuit Courts, where he has represented clients in a wide range of family law proceedings, including high-asset divorce litigation and contested custody matters. His practice has centered on guiding his clients through emotionally challenging circumstances while advocating for their financial and parental rights.
Earlier in his career, Floyd served as a public defender, where he managed a demanding caseload that included serious felony and misdemeanor matters. He has also handled appellate matters before the Virginia Court of Appeals. His litigation and appellate experience provide an additional layer of insight and advocacy that continues to serve his family law clients today, particularly when disputes arise and require firm representation in court.
Outside of his legal work, Floyd is a classically trained musician who plays piano, violin, and viola. His dedication to the discipline and precision of music mirrors the detail-oriented approach he brings to his legal practice.
