Attorney Bio
Rodney Jefferson, Esq. is a litigation attorney in the Richmond Office of Melone Hatley, P.C., bringing over 25 years of legal experience to his role. His diverse background includes a long-standing focus on family law, estate planning, and bankruptcy, complemented by extensive courtroom experience as both a private attorney and former state and federal prosecutor.
Throughout his career, Rodney has guided clients through complex legal matters involving divorce, custody, estate planning, and financial reorganization. He has also led educational seminars on estate and bankruptcy planning, demonstrating his commitment to community engagement and legal education.
Rodney began his legal career in public service, prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases for the Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and serving as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. His early courtroom work laid the foundation for his passionate and strategic litigation style, which he continues to bring to each case he handles.
Rodney is a graduate of George Mason University School of Law and earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science from James Madison University. He is admitted to the Virginia State Bar and is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Old Dominion Bar Association. Outside the office, Rodney enjoys spending time with his family, especially biking, playing tennis and pickleball, and enjoying the outdoors.
