William (Bill) Wilkinson joined Melone Hatley, P.C. in 2023 as a Litigation Attorney. William has extensive experience in a wide range of practice areas, including family law, civil lawsuits, criminal law, bankruptcy, and immigration. Over the past five years, William has represented clients in trials and appeals in state and federal courts in Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads. This experience has provided him with a well-rounded knowledge of legal issues that often overlap with divorce and family law, such as the financial burdens at issue in a bankruptcy case or the legal rights and consequences that arise in a criminal case.
During and after graduation from the University of Maine School of Law, William served as a law clerk for both the Maine Attorney General’s Office and the Public Defender’s Office and as a judicial legal assistant to the Honorable Rossie D. Alston, Jr. on the Virginia Court of Appeals. He was a two-term president of the Federalist Society Student Chapter as a second-year law student at the University of Maine School of Law.
Born and raised in a small town outside Portland, Maine, William has made Virginia his home since 2016. When not working hard litigating or settling legal matters for his client’s, Bill and his wife Katie enjoy playing with their two golden retrievers, Teddy and Beau, going to the beach, and investigating local distilleries and breweries. William is also an avid reader of ancient and early modern history and philosophy.
